JONES ACT - Seamen Injury

The Merchant Marine Act of 1920, better know as the JONES ACT, passed in 1920 to encourage the development of a United States merchant fleet, includes various provisions. Within the act, the most known, but least understood, section of the Act is dedicated to protecting US seamen. One of those protections include what happens when a seamen is hurt while performing his duties on the vessel.

Below is an podcast from Mr. Lochner and Mark Miller, editor of the he editor of the Longshoreman's Act section of the Maryland Workman's Compensation manual, to discuss the Jones Act and its relations between seamen and port workers.
